Ronald Lee "Ron" Kirby

Hagerstown, MD – Ronald Lee “Ron” Kirby, 85, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Sunday March 10, 2024, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD. 

He was born on October 17, 1938, in Williamsport, MD to the late Ernest Milburn and Helen Elizabeth (Hose) Kirby. 

Ron was employed as a Paster for Garden State Tanning/W.D. Byron and Sons Leather Tannery in Williamsport, MD for over 40 years until his retirement. 

He was a past member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 212 in Hagerstown, MD, he was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens fan and enjoyed watching them on TV. Ron was a devoted husband and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a selfless individual and would give the shirt off his back to anyone. 

Ron is survived by his wife Claudia “Gail” Kirby of Hagerstown, MD whom he married on August 25, 1967, his nieces and nephews that he treated as his children, brothers Robert and Donnie; sisters Mary, Nancy, and Betty; and his dog Bambi AKA “Grumpy Pants”. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers Bill, Kenny, Paul, and Junior and his sister Frances. 

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St Williamsport, MD on Thursday March 14, 2024, from 6:00 pm –8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 12:00 pm (noon) on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends. 

Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, MD on Friday March 15, 2024, at 11:00 am with Kevin Smoot officiating.
